I <3 Saint Cupcake!
I love Saint Cupcake! When I found out they deliver, I made 2 orders from them as birthday gifts for some friends, and apprarently they are very tasty! The pictures were enough to win me over! Their ordering website is sweet, you can drag and drop 3 different cupcakes, 3 different frostings, and 3 different sprinkles! They even have vegan options available.

My third and final stop!
With my mom and sister caffeined up, we got up real early to go to a Black Friday sale one of the local bridal shops was having. Let me tell you, it was crowded! I was lucky enough to have one of my bridesmaids meet us there! Here a few of the dresses I tried that didn't make the cut:

I did find my dress and I don't think I'll post any pictures of me in it until after the wedding. Here's a lil' teaser though!

boots
While I was visiting one of my bridesmaids in Texas, I picked up a pair of SM boots to wear at our wedding!
They were on sale, plus there was a buy one get one 90% of sale that day too! I ended getting the boots and a pair of cute shoes for my bridesmaid for under $100! I know I shouldn't wear them, but hey - I have have to break them in, right?

Meredith & Derek
I'm so impressed with Grey's this season; the last two or so have been a bit of a disappointment. Can you believe Meredih & Derek have decided to tie the knot? Check out their wedding website:

Let's Rehearse!
I got my dress in the mail today and I LOVE IT! I intended it for the rehearsal, but come on let's get real here - do you think I can make it almost two months without wearing it??

Look what came in the mail today!
I came home from a crappy day at work (ok, maybe it was just I had a crappy attitude today, which made for a crappy day) only to find my Something Bold Grace veil in the mail!
Easy-to-follow instructions!

When I contacted Sarah, I asked her which color would go best with my diamond white wedding dress. She suggested white, but what a sweetheart - she threw in a sample of the ivory just in case I was unsure!
And here I am in it! With a little practice, I am hoping it will look great!
Definitely check out Something Bold if you are considering a birdcage veil. Great service and quick shipping - I can't believe how fast it got here!!

for their footsies
One of the things on my to-do list is help find shoes for the bridesmaids. If you remember, their dresses looked like this. Here are a few of my favorites that are a steal!:

Engaged!
We had a great time with our photographer Jenny while she was in town. She was brave enough to bear the 20 degree weather and play in the snow with us! Here are a few of our favorite shots from the day:

Kitchen shenanigans
After an awesome trip to Texas to see my friends, I was ready to get started on some home projects. It's been an exciting adventure and I can't wait to use it! Here's the progress we've made so far:
Lovely yellow countertop, no?

Yummy Potato Soup!
I had a ton of leftover food I needed to get rid of so I made this last week and it was so tasty and easy to make! Sorry I don't have any of my own pictures, but you can check out the website.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
3 1/2 c. peeled and diced potatoes
1/3 c. diced celery
1/3 c. finely chopped onion
3/4 c diced cooked ham
3 1/4 c. water
2 tbs. chicken boullion granules (I used beef since it's what I had on hand)
1/2 tsp. salt, or to taste
1 tsp. ground pepper, or to taste
5 tbs. butter
5 tbs. A/P flour
2 c. milk
1/3 c. diced celery
1/3 c. finely chopped onion
3/4 c diced cooked ham
3 1/4 c. water
2 tbs. chicken boullion granules (I used beef since it's what I had on hand)
1/2 tsp. salt, or to taste
1 tsp. ground pepper, or to taste
5 tbs. butter
5 tbs. A/P flour
2 c. milk
DIRECTIONS
- Combine the potatoes, celery, onion, ham and water in a stockpot. Bring to a boil, then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the chicken bouillon, salt and pepper.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour with a fork, and cook, stirring constantly until thick, about 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk as not to allow lumps to form until all of the milk has been added. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until thick, 4 to 5 minutes.
- Stir the milk mixture into the stockpot, and cook soup until heated through. Serve immediately.

decisions, decisions
I still haven't decided which type of veil I plan on wearing - pretty sure my hair will be down if not, mostly down. I have it narrowed down to three:
The first is your traditional veil. I found one that has Swarovski crystals and is diamond white - which would work out great with my dress (more on that later, I promise!).
The second is a birdcage veil.
Need I say more?
Ooooohhh, I can't make up my mind. I need to hurry up though, because time is a-tickin'!

The third, which I haven't seen often, is a tulle birdcage veil. There's just something about it I love.

Roses are red
Last night, we began putting together all of my ideas in Photoshop to create our *drumroll please* invites! (and by 'we', I really mean Percy. All I did was try to explain to him what was in my head.). I will post pictures of this process, pictures mostly of Percy frowning because he would rather be playing with the dogs or Wii. However, I will have to wait until AFTER they are mailed and all of our guests have received them in case one of them stumbles across this blog! I wouldn't want to ruin all the fun!
OAN, I couldn't leave you without some sort of pretty picture to drool over! That's why I LOVE this blog! Some of my faves include:

Who, me?
Hey, look what I won!

Thanks Mrs. CuppyCake! Check out cuppycake's awesome blog! I've made her vanilla bean cream cheese frosting and chocolate cupcakes. Okay, don't get me wrong - the cupcakes were delish, but OMG, the frosting! We ended up having it straight out of the bowl!

Firecracker Red
This weekend we went to the TC to visit my parents/sister and then later, Percy's best man (who's dating my old roommate, who started dating a week before Percy and I and who are on the brink of engagement, yay!). I love spending time with my family, 'specially when my Momma makes my favorite dish: Albondigas! Woot Woot! I had two servings by the way! She also let us have her Adobe Creative Suite so we can get started on those invites; I think they are going to be veddy veddy time consuming.
Over at the BMan's, their Shitzhu Violet just had puppies, one of which we will be picking up in two short weeks. We've named her Bailey and I really hope she fits in with our other two pups, Riley and Chloe. This was her at about 1 week old, when we'd gone to visit a few weeks back:
Also this weekend, I got some wedding things accomplished! With the help of Weddingbee's Mrs. Daffodil and Miss Sushi, I ordered our envelopes and cardstock for the invitations from here and here! I'm so excited to get them in the mail! Firecracker Red, gotta love it!
