Happy Endings

This past weekend, we found a wandering dog in our neighborhood with no collar or tags. He was such a well-mannered dog, it was so hard to take him off to the humane society even though we knew it was the right thing to do. We made sure to post an ad on Craigslist that we found a lost dog and had dropped him off and made sure to leave contact information for the humane society we took him too. Today, I was browsing the Craigslist ads and ran across one that said something along the lines of "thank you, thank you - to the lady that took our boy to the humane society, I just can't thank you enough". Totally made my day! I just love happy endings!!

Sugar Doll

Miss T over at Ninety Nine + Forever has given me the Sugar Doll Award! Her wedding is New Year's Eve so be sure to stop by her blog and check out her fun ideas leading up to her big day!

The rules are: Post this award on my blog, write ten interesting facts about myself, and then pass it on to ten other bloggers, so here goes!

1.Until about 3 years ago, I hated cheddar cheese. After a couple of years of dating my guy and finding out it was a staple in all of his meals, I finally came to terms with it and now actually love it (although, every now and again grilled cheese sandwiches make me want to gag).

2. I have never dyed my hair. I'd like to keep my natural color as long as I can (my mom was in her late 30s before she started touching up her hair and she still rarely does it).

3. I got to spend close to a month in Mexico with my great-grandmother who was 97 when she passed away. She didn't have much of her memory when we met, but the first time she saw me she knew instantly that I was my dad's daughter because she said I looked just like she remembered him as a child. It had been over 35 years since they'd seen each other.

4. Moths really freak me out.

5. Tacos de lengua (Beef tongue tacos) were a childhood favorite meal! It's probably been a decade since I've had them.

6. I loved Selena growing up. Absolutely LOVED. I owned all of her cassette tapes (hehe), had all of her songs memorized, and would sing along using my dad's music equipment. I was devastated when she was killed.

7. I don't know how to drive a manual.

8. This is one of the greatest songs I had the privilege of performing. Chamber Choir 2001 baby!

9. My first CD was TLC - Crazy Sexy Cool.

10. I drink milk from the carton - don't tell my husband!

Christopher Walken performs Poker Face

I have a confession. Christopher Walken has long been my old man crush. For some people it's Sean Connery. For one of my friends - it's Barry Manilow. Me? I want more cowbell. I can't explain it, but I think it was Sarah, Plain and Tall that did it for me. So, imagine my delight when I received an email from a friend with Christopher Walken performing Poker Face. Quite possibly two of my most favorite people in the world, represented in this video:

Here goes!

1. I was a band/choir geek to the extreme in high school. Marching band, chamber choir, wind ensemble, pep band, jazz choir, jazz band, symphony orchestra, the list goes on and on. The biggest highlight was marching in the Rose Parade! Can you find me or any of 3 of my bridesmaids in this picture (hint: 2 of them are in the front row). I'm kidding, this picture is so small, I'm not sure where I am myself!

2. I get the music thing from my dad. He was in a band that played Spanish since before I was born until about the time I hit high school. He traveled a lot on the weekends playing gigs around the Pacific NW. These days, he just jams on his guitar at home.

3. I have had braces twice. The first time for 8 months (yeah baby!) and the second time for 2 months (orthodontics fault). I use to brag that even adding those both up, it was still considerably less time than what people typically wear braces. But I served my time...my teeth were BAD.

4. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. At my peak, I was pushing 190 (and I'm 5'4").

5. I have never broken a bone or had stitches due to an injury. My husband on the other hand has a long track record of injuries.

6. I had to have my teeth brushed and be in bed by 9:00 PM sharp while growing up. To this day, I have a really hard time staying up past that.

7. My favorite drink for the past few years is a White Mocha Americano with a lil' cream. Good hot or iced! Tasty!!

A Thursday Laugh

I have had lots of reactions to my new hair cut - everything from loving it (to the extreme, seriously, someone told me it was still long enough to twirl around his fingers in his dreams - gross!) to telling me they like it but wish I had kept my long hair. This one by far, has to be one of my favorites because even those who didn't like the short 'do, were respectful about their comments. This lady didn't hide any discontent she had with my hair. I'll set up the scene:

Conversation I had in the elevator with a woman who I have passed in the hallway several times but have never actually spoken to:

"You cut all your hair off."
"Yes, yes I did."
"Why did you go and do that?"
"It was getting to be a hassle. But I donated it so it wasn't wasted!"
"Humph. Well, the good thing is at least it'll grow back."

grey's premiere

One of the three reasons we have cable is Grey's Anatomy (the other two are ESPN and Fox Sport - for husband, of course). Is anyone just as excited as I am for the season 6 premiere? I was really disappointed with the end of season 3 and all of 4 and I really think year 5 stepped it up and with all the cliff hangers out there, I can't wait for sept. 24th....

All Around Me

It's been one of those blah weeks. Sometimes being an adult just stinks! Come on, don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about!! I get through it knowing my Savior will never hand me more than I can bear on my own shoulders. This song reminds me to turn to Him and I always feel so, so much better after listening to it :)

Oh the memories

I was a huge Saved by the Bell fan growing up and admit I am the proud owner of all 4 seasons on DVD. So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon this photo:
